Highline Christian Church (HCC), an Elder-led church within the Christian Church theological stream, is seeking a Youth Pastor with the passion and skill to provide the spiritual leadership needed to carry out the church’s mission and vision in youth ministry.
This leader must be: a strong communicator, able to clearly expound spiritual truth from the Scriptures, passionate for reaching young people for Christ, called to youth ministry, a Christlike servant leader, able to motivate others to be a part of God’s redemptive work personally and corporately in a local church context.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Youth Pastor is to carry out the church’s purpose and vision, directed toward church and unchurched youth. The particular area of influence for this pastor will be to plan, coordinate, and implement an integrated plan of ministry for Junior High through High School students. Along with this comes being a part of the greater pastoral staff at HCC. Specific attention to students who are in Junior High and High School is expected, both church members and local youth seen as outreach ministry. The following are some of the means to accomplish this task:
- Develop a spiritual vision for the HCC youth ministry that fits the greater vision of the church that is established by the Elders and pastoral staff.
- Oversee and conduct regular weekly youth ministry services, periodic events, summer camps, and other modes of ministry and outreach.
- Conduct an effective ministry of preaching and teaching the Word of God with excellent communication skills to motivate youth and families to live out a Christ-centered life.
- Actively engage individuals and families in our church and in our community. Intentionally pursue youth and families for the purpose of becoming fully committed followers of Christ who actively grow in all aspects of their faith.
- Oversee and disciple the youth for the purpose of teaching sound doctrine and reproducing teachers, disciples, and other ministry leaders.
- Model active devotion to God, family, and the local church. Be willing to learn while administering a gift of Christlike servant leadership.
- Maintain and enhance transitional path for students in coordination with HCC Children’s Ministry (younger) and Young Adults Ministry (older).
- Passionately pursue an empowering team atmosphere: caring for pastoral staff, other staff members, adult youth ministry volunteers, and the youth themselves in a way that equips and empowers them to serve alongside in the various youth ministry events as they grow in Christ.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must be a believer in and active follower of Jesus Christ.
- Must meet the primary qualifications for the position of an Elder as found in scripture (1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9).
- Must have a high view of scripture and teach accordingly.
- Must be in agreement with the HCC statements of belief and not hold or teach any views that would be contrary to these teachings.
- While completion of a master’s degree in theology from an accredited seminary is preferred, we will consider those with a BA in a theological discipline from an accredited theological institution or bible school.
- Model the humility and servant attitude of Christ with a teachable spirit.
- At have at least 5 years of successful youth ministry leadership experience as a youth pastor in a church setting.
Financial
The salary and benefits for this position will be dependent on the experience and qualifications of
the candidate. A specific financial package will be made available prior to an invitation to the
candidate as a finalist for the position.
